The most visible component of the common heritage of the Czech Republic and Austria is the building culture of buildings and settlements that were built in the same cultural and historical conditions. Issues of their restoration, architectural and urban planning principles and craftsmanship are almost identical on both sides of the border, while legislation, economics, theory and practice in the care of this heritage are very different.
There is also a pressing need in both countries to find new ways and forms of sustainable for the restoration and adaptation of this cultural heritage that meet the needs of contemporary needs, while at the same time not destroying its cultural and historical values.
These initial ideas and suggestions have been successfully translated into a project that has received funding from the support under the Environment and Resources priority axis of the cross-border programme Interreg V-A Austria-Czech Republic for the programming period 2014-2020.
The specific objective of this programme is the protection, promotion and development of natural and
cultural heritage.
