Elements
Elements. In other words, the cornerstones of architecture were examined in 2014 by a team led by Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas. Their work was first presented at the 14th Venice Biennale of Architecture and then culminated in the publication of the book Elements of Architecture. It was this analysis that inspired this project, which builds on it, expands it and uses it to design the new Faculty of Architecture.
The individual elements became the most basic idea. Searching and finding the intellectual potential of given elements in space and in response to people. Potential in breaking the obvious. In deconstructing the concept. In paradoxes. In releasing the hidden.
A jam session followed. Corridor as freedom. Stairs like uncertainty or? The facade as an interface. A wall as a boundary. The roof as context.
The project won the XIX. Bohuslav Fuchs Award.
