Prokop Matěj – Pawnshops: Places of the Informal Economy

The exhibition depicts a typology of pawnshops resulting from pathological phenomena in society. Through a curated selection of artefacts, the stories of the original owners and the associated subjective values of the objects are presented.

Prokop Matěj (*1992), an architect, graduated in the field of architecture and urbanism from CTU in Prague and TU in Delft. During his studies and after completing them, he underwent several architectural internships in domestic and foreign studios, including JRKVC (SK), Schenker Salvi Weber (AT), and Consequence forma in Brno (CZ).

The exhibition "Pawnshops" builds upon his studio work at the Delft University of Technology (NL) and develops it in the form of an interactive installation in a shop window gallery in the city center of Brno.
