Pulsating Elan

  • Students who enrolled in the Pulsating Elan Design Workshop were introduced to design sensibilities that involved expressing underlying rhythmic effects revealing pulsating spatial qualities, both at the scale of the human body and at the scale of a small pavilion installation. It was expected that the workshop would generate a series of design iterations that would be evolved towards fabrication strategies in the Spring.
The design experience transformed 2-dimensional perceptual rhythmic fields derived from interpretative music analysis into proliferating three-dimensional formations that retained the perceptual abstraction but afforded multiple scales of operation ranging from body prostheses to architectural spaces.
